𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙖 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚?
𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘂𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱, 𝗽𝗼𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆, 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲
A common depiction of trans people is a before and after narrative; similar stories of “being born in the wrong body”, then undergoing gender confirming treatments to reach the result of a finished identity. This might be true for some, but for most people gender is a lifelong journey. Transitioning Orchestra celebrates the ever-changing identity and is based on the artist’s ongoing transition, allowing time, curiosity, and playfulness into the transitioning process. The Orchestra consists of voice training, selfcare, laser treatment, surgeries, hormones, and conversations with peers. Together, the sounds become futuristic, fluid poetry.
