TRANSFORMATION is a feminist drag workshop that an exploration of different ways to communicate with our bodies and behaviors. The concept of “drag” in a more gender binary sense is most often used around an entertaining drag queen or drag king, a person that dresses and acts away from the entertainer’s biological gender and into the opposite one (Male>Female or Female>Male).
TRANSFORMATION considers drag to be a whole lot more radical and important than that! Drag helps us to escape the set norms and can challenge both our biology and desire. Drag is a highly powerful tool in the demolition of cis-sexism and patriarchy.
You can be a total beginner or a stage pro to attend our workhsops. The TRANSFORMATIONS collective invites you to co-create a playful feminist zone using tools such as acting, body consciousness, drag tutorials, queer theory, and group dynamics. Bookings are made through zafire.vrba(a)gmail.com
TRANSFORMATION was founded in 2007 by Zafire Vrba, Tomas Woodski, Signe Rodhe, Mats Råsmark, Lasse Långström and Bettina Gothen. The collective has held numerous workshops in Sweden, Denmark and Israel/Palestine. Some of these have been at The Museum for World Culture in Gothenburg, Gothenburg University, Alternativa politikerveckan Visby, Rum för barn in Stockholm, Copenhagen Queer Festival, Salon Mazal in Tel-Aviv and The Daila Center in Jerusalem.
